Who am I?

Hello! I’m Callum and welcome to my Latest Updates. I’m an aerospace engineer training for my pilot licence. My life has been shaped by my passion for aviation since I was young – I simply live and breathe aviation.

I first flew on board a plane when I was two years old. Since this, I have been enamoured by flight and what flying can achieve. The wonder of flight, the engineering that enables it and the incredible experiences in aviation keep me coming back to it. So much so that I have studied aerospace engineering and made it my life. My next goal is to achieve my Private Pilot Licence (PPL) to experience even more of what aviation can offer!

Which brings me to…

Why have I started a website…?

I am at the beginning of my flight training journey and so far it has been hard! I would be lying if I said balancing studying with a demanding full-time job has been easy. It’s been a challenge. 

My website – FlyingCallum – is my attempt to motivate and inspire both myself and others to keep going and achieve their dreams of flight. I want to build a community to share aviation and support one another.

What will I be writing about?

I aim to write about my journey training for a PPL as well as the myriad of aircraft that grace our skies. But my interest extends beyond the actual flying and engineering that underpins it – I am a sucker for the wild tales and extraordinary adventures of aviators all over the world. So I hope to share stories of flight and exploration that I find interesting – and hope you do too!
